Rental Locations & Ski Resort Tips:

Whether you are planning to hit the slopes or the clubs (or both!) I’d recommend getting a rental property near the Heavenly California Base Lodge (Gunbarrel Express) or staying near the South Lake Tahoe Casino Corridor. These locations allow easy access to most of the nightlife in the area while being steps away from the Heavenly Base Lodge or Heavenly Gondola and access to the largest ski resort in the region.

If you have some more ambitious skiers or snowboarders in the group Heavenly is located roughly ~1 hour from both Kirkwood and NorthStar. All these mountains are on the same Vail pass so you can easily make a day trip to experience more than one resort. Here is a guide that compares all the other resorts in the area.

**If you plan to ski at one of the major Vail resorts (Heavenly, Kirkwood, NorthStar) I recommend buying all tickets ahead of time to ensure they do not sell out on the day of.

Winter Bachelor Party - Weekend Itinerary:

Thursday: Arrival and Settle In

  • Arrival:

    • Gather the crew and check into your hotel or rental. Get everyone settled and acquainted with their surroundings.

    • This would be a great time to gather your gear if you’re renting. Check out Shoreline or Sports LTD for gear!

  • Afternoon:

    • Depending on the time of arrival, you can relax and prepare for skiing the following day or go wander around the Casino Corridor and Marriott shops by the heavenly Gondola.

    • Lunch: I recommend Azul Latin Kitchen (great margaritas) or the BaseCamp Beer Garden.

  • Evening:

    • Dinner: Meet up with the rest of the party for a casual dinner and drinks at either the Lucky Beaver or Aleworks.

    • Nightlife: If you are feeling up to it, either head into one of the casinos for more enjoyment and gambling or to Noel’s for a craft cocktail, live music, and quieter atmosphere.

Friday: Skiing or Boarding Heavenly Resort

  • Morning:

    • Breakfast: Order or pick up bagel sandwiches from Tahoe Bagel Company. I personally recommend the “Back2Life.”

    • Ski / Snowboard at Heavenly Resort Option: Head up and enjoy the mountain. Depending on skill level I recommend starting out on the Nevada side.

    • Non-Skier Options: For members not planning to enjoy the mountain, there are endless ways to entertain yourselves in the downtown casino area. Try your luck at Tipsy Putt indoor golfing or check out Tahoe Axe and Darts.

  • Afternoon:

    • Heavenly Resort Lunch Options:

      • Pack a lunch (and some beers) in a backpack or stop at the East Peak Lodge for a beer and a burger.

      • Another option would be to end your ski day with a few German Steins and Schnitzels at the Himmel Haus (located at the bottom of Gunbarrel Express)

    • (Post Ski) Relaxation Option:

      • Have Sierra Sauna Club deliver your own personal mobile sauna with built in cold plunge to your rental. Indulge in a rejuvenating sauna session with built in cold plunge to relax prior to going back out for the evening.

  • Evening:

    • Dinner: Savor a meal at either Riva Grill on the lake or Wolf by Vanderpump at Harvey’s Casino.

    • Nightlife:

      • Try your luck at the Golden Nugget Lake Tahoe Casino

      • Checkout the infamous Arty the Party in Harrah’s Casino

      • Or head to Opal Nightclub at Bally’s Resort.

Saturday: Ski Day at Heavenly - or - Venture to Kirkwood

  • Morning:

    • Breakfast: Order or pick up breakfast burritos from Verde Mexican Rotisserie.

    • Ski / Snowboard at Kirkwood Resort: Either Ski Heavenly again or make the venture out to Kirkwood Resort. The skiing and culture is much different out there and one of my personal favorite places to go. Check the weather and road conditions before departing as the road may be closed if it’s dumping out.

    • Non-Skier Options:

      • Rent snowmobiles and go on a guided tour for the day.

      • See if there is a Minor League Hockey Game (or other event) scheduled at the Tahoe Events Center.

  • Afternoon:

    • Lunch: Pack a lunch (and beers) in a backpack or go to the Kirkwood 7800’ Bar (cheap beer specials)

    • (Post Ski) Relaxation Option:

      • Have Sierra Sauna Club deliver your own personal mobile sauna with built in cold plunge to your rental. Indulge in a rejuvenating sauna session with built in cold plunge to relax prior to going back out for the evening.

  • Evening:

Sunday: Wind Down and Departure

  • Morning:

    • Breakfast: Have a relaxing breakfast at Red Hut Café on Ski Run.

    • Detox Option: One final detox session in the Sierra Sauna Club mobile sauna parked at your location to refresh and rejuvenate before heading home.

  • Afternoon:

    • Lunch: Grab a casual lunch at Base Camp Pizza Co.

  • Departure:

    • Don’t forget to return all your ski gear! Check out of your hotel rental property and head home, carrying with you the memories of an unforgettable bachelor weekend.

    • Do not recommend leaving anytime around 11am when all the hotels require checkout. Traffic back to the bay area on highway 50 has historically been very backed up around this time.
